QUESTION: 1. Please suggest a Dua, Wazifa or Amal for a person who will undergoing surgery, in the hope that all traces of illness will be eradicated. Should the Dua/Wazifa/Amal be read by the patient, or can somebody else read on his behalf? 2.  Is there any truth in illnesses being a sign of evil-eye, Hasad or black magic? If yes, how do we overcome it? ANSWER: You should bear in mind that both health and illness are from Allah Ta’ala. We do not deny the reality of black magic and the evil eye. However, the Quraan Sharif states, “However, they can never harm anyone with it (black magic) without Allah’s command (permission).” In conclusion, one’s focus at this stage should be to treat the patient and turn to Allah beseeching Him to cure the patient and not being concerned about how the patient fell ill.
