Assisting Shias with Zakaat

Question:-

There is a family in our area who is Hazara Afghan. These are Shias. We are not fully aware of their beliefs in regard to the position of the Sahaaba, nor are we aware of their belief in regard to the original Quraan being 40 Parasetc. Can they be assisted with Zakaat funds?

Answer:-

If these are Shias and you aren’t aware of their beliefs, then you shouldn’t assist them with Zakaat funds. If they are out of the fold of Islam then your Zakaat won’t be discharged.
