Begging of other people

Question:-

Are we discouraged from asking of others for our needs in the Hadith? I live in the USA and am currently experiencing financial difficulty. I am unable to work due to my health condition, hence i cannot meet my monthly bills.

Answer:-

The Hadith of Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam states that a person that begs of people in spite of having so much of funds that makes him independent (of begging), will come on the day of Qiyaamah in such a state that his begging (of people) will be apparent on his face in the form of scratches (indicating a form of humiliation). This means that there will be marks on his face indicating that this person was a beggar.

The warning in the Hadith is directed particularly to those that ask of other people in spite of possessing sufficient funds to fulfil their needs. We assume that this is not the case with you, as you do not have sufficient funds to pay even your rental, as understood from your query, and you are unable to work due to your current health condition.

We suggest that you contact one of the local Islamic institutes in the USA and present your case before them. It is possible that after assessing your condition, they may be in a position to financially assist you.
