Breast augmentation
Question:-
Due to my wife breastfeeding for long periods, her breasts have now become un-proportional. The one has become saggy and lost shape. It aapears as unpleasant and as a result, I am losing desire for her, and now want to seek pleasure in other avenues. Is it permissible for her to undergo surgery to make them proportionate?
Answer:-
If surgery is carried out with the sole intention of beautification, then such surgery is prohibited in Shariah, as one is changing the natural creation of Allah Ta’ala. However, the Ulama have permitted surgery when there is a genuine need such as treatment for an illness, or, due to some part of the body becoming defective because of ageing.
In your instance, if the said procedure is primarily due to beautification, then you should avoid such surgery, as the purpose and objective of life should not be confined to attaining sexual pleasure all the time. We have been created for a much more important purpose, which is to worship and recognize Allah Ta’ala. True enjoyment and pleasure is in the love of Allah Ta’ala and engaging in His Ibaadat, and Allah Ta’ala has promised us the everlasting pleasures and enjoyment of Jannah in return. Yes, there is no doubt that we have been permitted to derive enjoyment from our spouses, but this shouldn’t be the sole purpose of life like how it is for a large percentage of the Ummah.
Notwithstanding the above, if there is a genuine need for breast augmentation as the breasts have really become defective, then you may go ahead with the required procedure.
