Buying food hampers for the poor with interest funds
Question:-
Is it permissible to purchase food hampers with interest money and distribute it amongst the poor?
Answer:-
According to the Fuqaha the actual interest funds should be given to the poor. The funds should not be used to purchase food items or hampers which would then be distributed amongst the poor.
فيجب رد عين الربا قائما لا رد ضمانه يعني انما يجب رد ضمانه لو استهلكه (شامي 169 ج5)
