Making intention for a number of deceased people in one Qurbani Share

QUESTION:-

Please advise whether multiple intentions can be made for deceased relatives in one share of Qurbani i.e. from seven shares of a cow? Can I make intention for Qurbani of my grandparents, uncles, etc. within a single share? Or, must a separate share be earmarked for each Marhoom family member?

ANSWER:-

When making Qurbani on behalf of the deceased, an intention for several deceased people can be made when slaughtering an animal (such as a goat or sheep), or when buying a share in a bigger animal such as, a cow, ox, or camel. It is, therefore, not necessary to slaughter a separate animal for each of the Marhoomeen. [Re: Fatawaa Darul Uloom Zakariyya Vol:6 Pg:438, Fatawaa Rahimiyyah Vol:10 Pg:25]
