QUESTION:
How do we make Dua, crying to Allah, yet trying to avoid the tears going down from the nose through the throat?
ANSWER:
Crying in front of Allah whist making Dua is most indeed commendable. Consider the following excerpt:
Moulana Qasim Nanotwi Rahimahullah states that many people are so sincere in making Dua with tears, that the smoke of their sincerity and their crying reaches the Heavens. In other words, they establish such a connection with Allah Ta’ala that the fragrance of their supplication goes beyond the Arsh of Allah Ta’ala [Re: Some of the wisdom within certain selected Masnoon Duas Pg.14]
Hence, one should cry whilst making Dua to Allah Ta’ala and if one cannot cry then he should imitate the one who cries. And whilst crying, if some tears internally enter the throat (if possible) then the fast will not be nullified.
