Drug Addiction
QUESTION:
I am in desperate need of help. Years ago, when I was going through some problems I was given some tablets by a doctor. The doctor was a family friend but has now relocated. The tablets used to help me with stress and anxiety and help me sleep. Then when I started to feel better and had no need for this tablet, I started getting sick. It was withdrawal and I could not stop. I have tried and tried. I pray Salaah, read Zikr and make Dua, but it is a living hell when I stop the tablets. Please give me guidance on how to stop my dependance on this tablet. I go into depression and don’t want to talk, have no energy, and I can’t even pray Salaah.
ANSWER:
Allah Ta’ala has created the human being with great ability and potential. The human being can achieve every goal that he or she wishes to achieve, provided that one is determined to achieve and makes the necessary effort in that direction.
There was a lady in her later forties suffering from depression for years and was addicted to pharmaceutical drugs. She was even injecting herself at times. She had been for rehabilitation on several occasions, spent a great deal of money, but could not give up the habit.
We constantly tried assisting with the problem and continuously made Dua to Allah Ta’ala to cure her from the illness. Allah Ta’ala cured her from the addiction through a problem. The problem was actually a mercy from the side of Allah Ta’ala. Whilst experiencing the problem, she made a firm determination to give up the drugs and gave it up at once. We learn from here that one requires the mercy of Allah and the firm determination to give up the evil that one is involved in.
To draw the mercy of Allah Ta’ala, perform 2 Rakaats of Salaah daily at night before retiring to bed, recite 100 times Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam, 500 times La Hawla Wala Quwwata Illa Billah, and 100 times Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam, and then engage in Dua. Continue with this practice until you finally give up the evil habit. This Kalimah is from beneath the Arsh of Allah Ta’ala and extremely effective for any problem that one may be facing. We make Dua that Allah Ta’ala cures you from the addiction and blesses us all with a life that is most pleasing to Him.
