Question:-

Is it permissible to use e-bucks and can we apply for e-bucks?

Answer:- 

According to our understanding, e-bucks points are gifted to FNB account holders (who have subscribed to the e-bucks program) when utilizing their bank card or e-bucks card at participating outlets. Points that are sponsored by participating stores such as Dischem, Clicks, Engen etc. will be permissible to use, as it is considered as a gift from the store. However, the points received from FNB directly will not be permissible to utilize, as the primary income of banks is generally from interest money which is Haraam.

Notwithstanding the above, it will not be permissible to open a new account with FNB, purely with the intention of accruing e-bucks points. It is acceptable for an existing account holder to subscribe to the e-bucks facility.
