Ear piercing at different points of the ear
Question:-
I want to find out if it is permissible to pierce the ears on the forward helix, the tragus, outer conch and the snug?
Answer:-
The purpose of wearing an earring is to adorn oneself. The practice of females adorning themselves with earrings was from the time of Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam. This need can be fulfilled by wearing just a single earring at the earlobe. There is no real need to pierce the ear further than that, although the Ulama have permitted the wearing of a second earring as well. [Re:- Kitaab-un-Nawaazil Pg. 482/483 Vol.15]
However, piercing the ears at the different points such as the helix, tragus etc. seem to be more of a Kuffar custom carried out on the basis of fashion, as there doesn’t seem to be any need to pierce the ears at different points of the ear. We, as Muslims, have been prohibited from imitating their ways and customs, hence, we advise abstention from doing so. Yes, if the ear is pierced at the different points on the basis of medical treatment, then there is no harm in doing so.
