QUESTION:
Is it permissible to find out the gender of your unborn baby? What is the Fatwa regarding this please?
ANSWER:
The impermissibility of photography is established from the Ahadith of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam. Hence, taking a digital scan of the foetus without a valid Shari’ee reason will not be permitted. Shariah does not consider finding out the gender of the child a valid reason to have a scan taken.
