Question:-
1. Can an Imam lead the Salaah if his garment is below the ankles?
2. Can the Imam lead the Salaah if his hair is cut in 2 lengths, as is the fashion nowadays
Answer:-
It is Makrooh to perform Salaah behind an Imaam with a two-length haircut and who wears his trousers below the ankles. The Imaam represents the congregation before Allah Ta’ala hence the best and most suitable person should be appointed as the Imaam. The piety and righteousness of the Imaam has a positive effect on the congregation whilst the sins and evil of the Imaam will bear negative consequences on the congregation. Notwithstanding the above, if such an Imaam leads the Salaah, the Salaah will be valid.
