Question:-
A lady passed away leaving behind her mother, father, sister, two brothers, a maternal grandmother, paternal grandmother and a paternal grandfather. She didn’t have any children. How should the inheritance be distributed?
Answer:-
In the queried scenario, the mother gets 1/6th of the estate which is 16.67%, and the father gets the remainder 5/6 of the estate which is 83.33%. The rest of the family members will be deprived.
Due to the presence of the father, the grandfather and the siblings of the Marhooma will be deprived, and due to the presence of the mother, both the grandmothers (paternal and maternal) will be deprived. In conclusion, the estate of the Marhooma will devolve upon her parents only.
