Question:-
Is it permissible to recite Quran Sharif, Surahs, Athkaar etc. as Isaale Thawaab for a deceased relative?
Is there anything mentioned in the hadeeth?
What is the ruling according to all four Madhaahib?
Answer:-
The view of majority of the Ulama belonging to the Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jamaa’ah, is that a person can pass over the rewards of his optional acts (whether monetary or physical forms of worship) to the deceased or the living. Hence, a person may pass over the rewards of his Nafl Salaah, Nafl fasts, recitation of the Quraan Sharif, Nafl Hajj and Umrah etc. to the deceased and living. [Re:- Kitaabun Nawaazil Pg.264 Vol.6] The narrations have been quoted below.
N.B. We only issue Fataawa according to the Hanafi school of thought. For rulings according to the other Madhaahib, we suggest that you contact the Ulama that are experts on that particular Madhab.
