Kegel Balls Exercise
QUESTION:
There is a product that women use to strengthen the muscles around the vagina and pelvic floor due to urinary problems or after childbirth. It is also recommended to use in general as exercise for the vagina and pelvic floor, which may, for example, be good for one when giving birth, for one’s health, and much more. The product contains 2 bullets which are inserted into the vagina. Having to keep them balanced inside so that they do not fall out, is what exercises the muscles around it and above. The beads do not cause any pleasure and can be purchased in a pharmacy. Will it be permissible to use this method of pelvic floor exercise?
ANSWER:
We do not recommend using kegel balls as a treatment to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles as there exists a fear that the beads may cause pleasure although it claims not to. There are numerous other Kegel exercises. You may recommend them to consult with a pious, upright Muslim gynaecologist who will guide her how to learn these exercises.
