Kitchen utensils with Arabic calligraphy
Question:-
Is it permissible to use Arabic calligraphy kitchen items without verses of the Quraan Sharif?
Answer:-
In our understanding, these are the letters that make up the words of the Quraan Sharif, hence, they deserve utmost respect. If we use these trays in the kitchen, our children will grow up with the understanding that Arabic alphabets are equivalent to the alphabets of any other language, hence they don’t deserve any respect. Very soon, the respect and honour of these letters will leave our hearts too. Then gradually a time will dawn upon us when we will start treating the Quraan Sharif as a book (Allah forbid!) as done by many Salafis in the Haramain Sharifain. It is kept on the floor whilst they are engaged in Sajdah-e-Tilaawah or performing Salaah. They object when we show love and affection to the Kalaam of Allah Ta’ala. And finally a time could arrive, when the greatness of the Quraan Sharif will leave the heart. In conclusion, this seems to be yet another plot of the Kuffar to destroy the concept of Adab (that we have for Deen) within us, and ultimately destroy Deen. Hence, we should refrain from buying and selling such dishes, so that the manufacture of them can also cease.
