Question:-
I have parked my vehicle at a car dealer for selling. The dealer charges a commission for selling the vehicle. Is this arrangement in order? Please provide all options that are permissible in Shariah!
Answer:-
In the queried scenario, we understand that the owner of the vehicle leaves his car at the car stand with the intention of having it sold. The owner dictates and fixes the price of the vehicle and he is also aware of the stipulated percentage that will be levied by the car dealer for selling the vehicle. For example, the stipulated selling price of the vehicle is fixed at R100 000.00, and the dealer charges 10% commission which is R10 000.00. Hence, the commission amount is fixed and known. This option is in order in terms of Shari’ah. This would be the best option that comes to our mind.
