Manure of Domestic Animals
QUESTION:
Is the manure of sheep, cattle and goats considered impure? If it messes one’s clothes, should the clothes be rinsed off, or should they be changed before reading Salaah?
ANSWER:
Firstly, one needs to understand the nature of manure. Generally, manure is used as an organic fertilizer made from the dung of domestic livestock. Usually, soil and other ingredients are also mixed with the manure to solidify it, and this is then mixed into the soil. This results in a complete metamorphosis occurring which makes it permissible to utilize. The dung of these animals no longer remain in its original form, nor do any traces of it remain. Rather, it all turns into soil when mixed with the soil.
Hence, keeping the above explanation in mind, it is clear that any manure which falls on one’s clothing is Paak (clean) and there is no need to wash the clothes.
