Online Tarbiyah classes
Question:-
My daughter came home today from Maktab and informed us that her Aapa gave her a zoom link to access a Tarbiyah class ( for females only.) Would it be advisable for my teenage daughter to join the zoom classes?
Answer:-
You haven’t provided much information in regards to the Tarbiyah classes and by whom it is going to be conducted. However, we do not approve of online classes particularly if the student is able to view the teacher and vice versa. If only the voice is transmitted, then too we are not too comfortable as Na-Mahram males in the various homes will be able to listen to the female speaker conducting her lessons. We are living in a time where even the voice is a means of attraction and could consequently become a means of Fitnah. It will therefore be best for your daughter to attend her daily Madrasah classes and nothing more. For her Tarbiyat, she should communicate with one of the senior Mashaa’ikh of Tasawwuf either through email or through the Sheikh’s family. Her correspondence via email should be carried out under your supervision. Yes, if there is a necessity to use Zoom as there was a need during the lockdown period, then it will be acceptable to use it on the basis of necessity, but with the proviso that only the voice of the speaker is transmitted. In this instance, the students should listen to female teachers via a headphone.
