Prayer Rooms In Hotels In Haramain

QUESTION:

Many hotels in Makkah Sharif have a place where both males and females can read their Salaah in separate rooms. These hotels however, follow the Imaam of the Haram leading the Fardh of the 5 daily Salaah. Is Salaah performed in this manner valid?

ANSWER:

Following the Imaam of the Haram in Salaah from the Musallahs (prayer areas) that are located in the hotels, is not valid. The Kitaabs of Fiqh state that, if there is a large gap between the Imaam and the followers like a river in which a small boat can pass, or a road in which motorcycles or bicycles travel, then following the Imaam (after such a huge gap) will not be valid since there is no continuity between the Sufuf. In the above instance, the gap between the Sufuf of the Haram and the Musallahs (prayer areas which are located in the hotels) is a huge gap, hence following the Imaam of the Haram in Salaah will not be valid.

وأن لا يفصل” بين الإمام والمأموم “نهر يمر فيه الزورق” في الصحيح والزورق نوع من السفن الصغار “ولا طريق تمر فيه العجلة” وليس فيه صفوف متصلة والمانع في الصلاة فاصل يسع فيه صفين على المفتى به “و” يشترط أن “لا” يفصل بينهما “حائط” كبير “يشتبه معه العلم بانتقالات الإمام فإن لم يشتبه” العلم بانتقالات الإمام “لسماع أو رؤية” ولم يكن الوصول إليه “صح الاقتداء” به “في الصحيح” وهو اختيار شمس الأئمة الحلواني لما روى أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم كان يصلي في حجرة عائشة رضي الله عنها والناس في المسجد يصلون بصلاته وعلى هذا الافتداء في الأماكن المتصلة بالمسجد الحرام وأبوابها من خارجه صحيح إذا لم يشتبه حال الإمام عليهم بسماع أو رؤية ولم يتخلل إلا الجدار كما ذكره شمس الأئمة (مراقي الفلاح ص111 ج1)
