Response To The Marriage Of Hadrat Aisha Radiallahu Anha At A Young Age

QUESTION:

Please kindly advise how to respond when the Kufaar attack us with the marriage of Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam to Hadrat Aisha Radiallahu Anha who was young in age?

ANSWER:

During the time of the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, people used to get married at young ages, and this was acceptable. If this was not acceptable, then the enemies of the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam would have raised and objection. However, there isn’t any mention of anyone objecting to the marriage of the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam during his lifetime. This has only become a problem in the recent past.

We live in a totally different era from that of Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam. This means that things which were common during his time, are not common in our times due to the change in customs. At the time of the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, people reached the age of puberty at a younger age than today, resulting in them being mature at an early age.
