Sahaabiyyah who never left her home due to the instruction of her husband

Question:-

I was recently at a talk and heard a story of a female Sahaabi which went as follows:

The husband had gone out in jihad and instructed the wife not to leave the home. Whilst he was out, her father got sick so she sought permission from Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam to visit her father but was advised, “Obey the instruction of your husband.” Eventually, her father passed away and again she asked to leave but was told the same. Thus, she never attended the Janaazah. She was then told that her father was forgiven because of her obedience to her husband. Is this incident authentic and can it be quoted, and what is the reference?

Answer:-

This narration is recorded in Majma-uz-Zawaa’id on page. 313, volume 4. It is also recorded in Mu’jamul Awsad of Tabrani on page 332, volume.7, as well as other books of Hadith. However, Allama Haythami Rahimahullah states that Ismah Bin Mutawakkil is categorized as a weak narrator.

The narration is also narrated with another chain of narrators who narrate from Hadrat Anas Bin Maalik Radiallahu Anhu. Amongst the narrators is Yusuf Bin Atiyya who is ‘Matrook’- he is suspected of being a liar regarding the Hadith of Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam.

In conclusion, the narration should not be quoted.

عن أنس بن مالك عن النبي – صلى الله عليه وسلم – أن رجلا خرج وأمر امرأته أن لا تخرج من بيتها وكان أبوها في أسفل الدار وكان في أعلاه فمرض أبوها فأرسلت إلى النبي – صلى الله عليه وسلم – فذكرت ذلك فقال: أطيعى زوجك فمات أبوها فأرسلت إلى النبي – صلى الله عليه وسلم – فقال: أطيعى زوجك، فأرسل إليها النبي – صلى الله عليه وسلم – إن الله قد غفر لأبيها بطاعتها لزوجها وقال الهيثمي رواه الطبراني في الأوسط وفيه عصمة بن المتوكل وهو ضعيف (جمع الجوامع المعروف بالجامع الكبير ص388 ج3) في مجمع الزوائد ج 4 ص 313 باب حق الزوج على المرأة حديث
