QUESTION:
I won tickets to a cricket match after entering a quiz. Can I sell it to a non-Muslim and use the money earned from the sale for myself?
ANSWER:
It is not permissible to sell a cricket match ticket to either Muslims or non-Muslims, due to cricket matches comprising of a host of evils such as, intermingling of sexes, music, consuming of alcohol, Satr of players being exposed etc. This is the more cautious view recorded in the Kitaabs of Fiqh and the view of the Darul Ifta.
ويجوز بيع آلات الملاهي من البربط والطبل والمزمار والدف ونحو ذلك عند أبي حنيفة لكنه يكره وعند أبي يوسف ومحمد لا ينعقد بيع هذه الأشياء لأنها آلات معدة للتلهي بها موضوعة للفسق، والفساد فلا تكون أموالا فلا يجوز بيعها(بدائع الصنائع 5/144)
