Spaying a cat

Question:-

Is it permissible to spay female cats in order for them not to fall pregnant and have kittens?

Answer:-

“Spaying” is a medical procedure that involves removing the ovaries of a female animal and thereby prevent it from reproducing. From a Shariah perspective, this procedure is impermissible (Haraam) unless there is a valid reason to perform it, and doing so will be beneficial to the animal. [[i]]. If there is a valid reason to carry out the procedure, then efforts should be made to ensure that minimal inconvenience is caused to the animal.
