Tasbeehaat of Qawmah

Jan 16, 2022 | Salaah

Question:-

What should the Imaam, Muqtadee and Munfarid recite in the Qawmah posture of Salaah?

Answer:-

Imaam Abu Hanifa Rahimahullah states that the Imaam should recite the ‘Tasmeea’ and the Muqtadis should recite ‘Rabbana Lakal Hamd.’ The Imaam should not recite ‘Rabbana Lakal Hamd’ according to him. The proof of Imaam Abu Hanifa Rahimahullah is the narration of Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam, wherein Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam is reported to have said, “When the Imaam says, ‘Samiallahu Liman Hamida’ then say (O Muqtadis), ‘Rabbana Lakal Hamd’”. This is a distribution between the Imaam and the Muqtadi, and negates partnership. Therefore, the Muqtadi does not recite the ‘Tasmeea.’

According to Saahibain, the Imaam should recite ‘Rabbana Lakal Hamd’ as well. Their proof is the Hadith of Abu Hurairah Radiallahu Anhu who states that, Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam used to gather both the Zikrs. Secondly, they state that when the Imaam encouraged the Muqtadis to recite ‘Rabbana Lakal Hamd’, then he shouldn’t forget himself.

The Munfarid will recite both.
