QUESTION:
How much time should a person allot to performing Qadha Salaah in a day? If a person has to perform quite a bit of Qadha Salaah and dedicates 20-30mins daily for this objective, and recites Quraan for 1 hour everyday, then will he be sinful for giving less time to performing Qadha Salaah?
ANSWER:
Shariah has not stipulated or fixed a particular amount of time for performing Qadha Salaah, hence, the individual may dedicate a suitable amount of time to discharge his Qadha Salaah. However, one should not overburden himself with performing many Salaah (in a day) whereby it becomes a burden to perform the missed Salaah.
The following method may be adopted to facilitate ease:
1. Try to perform one Qadhaa Salaah with every Fardh Salaah. For example, perform one Fajr Qadha with one’s Fajr Salaah, and the same will be applicable to the rest of the Salaah for the day.
2. If you have additional time and strength, then you may increase according to your ability.
One will not be sinful for dedicating less time for the performance of one’s Qadhaa. However, one should make every effort to cover as much Qadha as possible before death overtakes a person. Also, it is more important to perfom Qadha than Nafl Salaah.
