Question:-
A person ordered an item online. On receiving the item, the customer noticed that the item was defective and therefore applied for a refund. It was accepted and the company credited the money into the customer’s account. However, they haven’t collected their item. Is the credit in one’s account unlawful to use?
Answer:-
The online company accepted the customer’s request for a cash refund since the item was defective, and, in fact, credited the customer’s bank account. The money will now belong to the customer and the product that was purchased will belong to the seller (which is the online company). The product should be safely stored away until the company makes arrangements to have it picked up. However, the customer is free to utilise the funds in the bank account.
