Question:-
Zaid breeds cows. However, he buys all the feed for the animals himself. How should he calculate Zakaat on the animals?
Answer:-
If a person is breeding cows and he buys the fodder for the animals himself, then there is no Zakaat on such cows. However, if the animals are for resale, then he will pay Zakaat on the market value of the animals.
جن مواشی کا غالب چارہ گھر میں ہو باہر چرنا کم ہو ان پر زکوة نہیں ، البتہ تجارت کی نیت سے خریدے ہو تو ان کی قیمت پر زکوة فرض ہے (احسن الفتاوی ص۲۷۲ ج۴)
فلو علوفة فلا زكاة فيها إلا إذا كانت للتجارة فلا يعتبر فيها العدد بل القيمة (الدر المحتار ص304 ج2)
