Multiple conditional divorces

Nov 8, 2022 | Talaaq (Divorce)

Question:-

A person says to his wife, “If I leave this house, you are divorced.” He also says, “If I eat this food, you are divorced.”  He also says, “If I drink this water, then you are divorced.” Thereafter, he only does the 1st one, ie. he leaves the house but doesn’t do the other 2 (i.e. he doesn’t eat or drink that specific food or water).

The next day he reconciles and gets back with his wife. Do the other two conditional vows of eating and drinking that specific food still remain?

Answer:-

In the queried scenario, the remaining two conditions will remain. By eating and drinking, the second and third divorce will be effective.
