ABANDONING SINS
The Quraan Sharif states, “The misfortune that afflict you are a result of the actions that you earn and Allah pardons a great deal.” (Surah Shura, verse 30)
Yet in another verse Allah Ta’ala states, “Corruption has appeared on land and at sea because of the evil actions of man and so that Allah may let them taste (the consequences) of some of their (evil) actions, so that they (again) adopt Taqwa.
It is through the disobedience of Allah that various nations of the past were completely annihilated and destroyed. Ibn Abi Dunya narrates that one person asked Aisha Radiallahu Anha the reason for earthquakes. She replied, “When people fearlessly commit Zinah considering it as a permitted act, consume wine and play musical instruments then Allah Ta’ala commands the earth to cause them to shake.
Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam is reported to have said that a person is certainly deprived of sustenance due to the sins that he indulges in. [Musnad-e-Ahmad]
Imaam Ahmad Rahimahullah says that when Qubrus in Persia was conquered, Jubair Bin Nadeer saw Abu Darda Radiallahu Anhu crying in seclusion. He says that I told Abu Darda Radiallahu Anhu, “O Abu Darda, how is it that you crying on such a blessed day when Allah Ta’ala has granted Islam and the people of Islam in abundance?” He said, “O Jubair, it is sad that you haven’t understood. When any nation does not uphold the laws of Allah Ta’ala they are humiliated. Don’t you see, this very nation had ruled at one stage, but it was a matter of discarding the commands of Allah Ta’ala that you are observing this plight and condition.
A concerted effort should therefore be made to obey every command of Allah and refrain from every form of disobedience. A Hadith states, “Leaving out an atoms weight of that which Allah has prohibited is better than the worship of all the humans and Jinn.” [Re:- Al-Asbah Wa Nazaa’ir]
Excessive Istigfaar and recitation of Durood Sharif is extremely beneficial in overcoming difficulties and problems in our lives. May Allah Ta’ala guide the Ummah towards the right and protect us from all harm. Ameen!
