Accountant issuing client with a letter required for bond

Mar 28, 2022 | Employment / Commission

Question:-

I am an accountant and a non-Muslim client approached me with the following request:
He has created a new company to buy an investment property. In order to register the bond, he needs a letter from the accountant confirming that this is the first transaction of the company and, therefore, there aren’t any financial statements available for the company.
Can I prepare such a letter for him, or will I be guilty of aiding in sin since his intention is to use the letter to obtain the bond?

Answer:-

You are simply preparing a letter which states that this is the first transaction of the company and there aren’t any previous financial statements. The letter is in no way requesting the financial institute to grant the bond, nor are you applying for the bond on his behalf. You are only providing information in regards to the new company that your client has formed, hence, you will not be sinful in this instance.
