Actions which earn the reward of a Qiraat

QUESTION:-

Please share a list of deeds where the reward is the equivalent to one Qiraat?

ANSWER:-

Allah Ta’ala has stipulated great rewards for certain actions which serve as an incentive and encouragement to carry out those good actions. This is indeed the mercy of Allah Ta’ala on this Ummah.

After conducting some research, we found the following narrations wherein the reward of a Qiraat has been mentioned:

1. For performing the Janazah Salaah of the deceased and participating in the burial,

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ مَنْ صَلَّى عَلَى جِنَازَةٍ فَلَهُ قِيرَاطٌ، وَمَنْ انْتَظَرَ حَتَّى يُفْرَغَ مِنْهَا فَلَهُ قِيرَاطَانِ قَالُوا: وَمَا الْقِيرَاطَانِ؟ قَالَ: مِثْلُ الْجَبَلَيْنِ. (سنن ابن ماجة #1539)

Abu Hurairah Radiallahu Anhu narrates that Nabi Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “Whoever performs the Janaazah Salaah gets a reward equal to one Qiraat, and whoever waits until the entire burial is completed, then he will get the reward equal to two Qiraat. The Sahaabah asked, “What are two Qiraat?” Nabi Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam replied, “(Reward) equal to two mountains.”

 2. For killing a gecko,

 عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ يَرْوِيهِ قَالَ: َمَنْ قَتَلَ وَزَغَةً كَانَ لَهُ قِيرَاطُ أَجْرٍ(مصنف عبد الرزاق #8397)

Ma’mar Rahimahullah narrates that whoever kills a gecko will get the reward of a Qiraat.

3. For making Jihaad,

  عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ رَافِعٍ قَالَ: بَلَغَنِي عَنِ الثِّقَةِ: أَنَّ الْغَازِي إِذَا خَرَجَ مِنْ بَيْتِهِ عَدَّدَ مَا خَلَّفَ وَرَاءَهُ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْقِبْلَةِ، وَأَهْلِ الذِّمَّةِ، وَالْبَهَائِمِ يُجْرِي عَلَيْهِ بِعَدَدِ كُلِّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمْ قِيرَاطٌ قِيرَاطٌ، كُلَّ لَيْلَةٍ مِثْلُ الْجَبَلِ أَوْ قَالَ مِثْلُ أُحُدٍ (مصنف عبد الرزاق#9536)

Ishaq bin Rafi Rahimahullah narrates that it has reached me from authentic narrators that when a Mujaahid (warrior) leaves his house, the number of Muslim people, non-Muslim people, animals he leaves behind are enumerated, and he is rewarded with a Qiraat for every one of them every night like a mountain, or like (mount) Uhud.
