Adopting snakes and reptiles as pets
Question:-
Does Shariah permit us to adopt snakes and reptiles as pets?
Answer:-
Shariat has permitted one to keep such animals as pets from which one derives some sort of benefit. For example, keeping a bird to comfort oneself or keeping a dog for guarding purposes will be permitted. However, if an animal (such as a lion), or reptile (such as a snake or scorpion), is harmful and void of benefit, and people generally have a level of disinclination towards them, then adopting such animals or reptiles will not be free of abhorrence.
