Aligning With The Ahlus-Sunnah Wal-Jama’ah

QUESTION:

In this day and age, there are many accounts on various social media platforms, especially from people who identify as “Salafis,” where they often spread names of scholars, label many practices as Bid‘ah or Shirk, and create confusion among the youth. How should we protect ourselves and our youth from this type of content, and what is the correct way to approach these issues which are in line with the teachings of Ahlus-Sunnah Wal-Jama’ah?

ANSWER:

A simple method is not to have all these social media platforms. In this way, one will be protecting oneself and one’s family from all the vices and wrong beliefs promoted on these platforms. Yes, if one needs to use it for work purposes, then one may limit it for work only.

Alhamdulillah, Allah Ta’ala has blessed our country with many senior Ulama who uphold true Islam and follow the Sunnah of Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam. One may attend, and encourage others as well, to attend their programmes or listen to their lectures which will keep one aligned to the Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jama’ah Allah Ta’ala states in the Quraan Majeed:

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ اتَّقُواْ اللّهَ وَكُونُواْ مَعَ الصّٰدِقِينَ

“O people of Imaan, Fear Allah and remain with those who are truthful.”

A poet mentions:

صحبت صالح ترا صالح کنند صحبت طالح ترا طالح کنند

“The company of a pious person will lead one towards piety, and the company of an evil person will lead one towards evil.”
