Contributing towards Masjid renovations with Haraam funds
Question:-
Can a person selling Haraam products in his store contribute towards the Masjid renovations?
What about a person that sells stolen goods?
Answer:-
1. If the owner is selling both Halaal and Haraam products (in his store) but majority of his income is from the Halaal products, then his contribution is acceptable. And if he contributes from the income derived from selling Halaal products only, then all the more reason that his contribution will be in order.
حلال چیزوں کی آمدنی سے دیدے تو درست ہے ، اگر مخلوط آمدنی سے دے اور حلال غالب ہو تب بھی درست ہے ( فتاوی محمودیہ ص۶۷ ج۲۲)
اهْدَى إلَى رَجُلٍ شيئا أو أَضَافَهُ إنْ كان غَالِبُ مَالِهِ من الْحَلَالِ فَلَا بَأْسَ إلَّا أَنْ يَعْلَمَ بِأَنَّهُ حَرَامٌ (الفتاوي الهندية ص342 ج5)

If the owner of the shop confesses to selling stolen goods, or, there are Shari’ee witnesses available to testify that he is selling stolen goods, then such income should not be accepted for Masjid renovations. However, a person shouldn’t entertain doubts (in regards to a person’s income) without proof.
اگر زید کو اسکا اقرار ہے یا اس پر شرعی شہادت موجود تو چوری سے خریدے ہوئے مال کی آمدنی سے چندہ نہ لیا جائے اور بغیر ثبوت کے شبہ نہ کیا جائے فتاوی محمودیہ ص۶۷ ج۲۲
