Da’wah To Non-Muslims
QUESTION:
Is it our duty to spend time in the effort of Tabligh, or should we rather give preference to giving Da’wah to non-Muslims? Tabligh Jamaat focuses on Muslims while seemingly overlooking including the non-Muslims in informing them about Islam.
ANSWER:
The principles of Da’wah and Tabligh laid out by Maulana Ilyas Rahmatullahi Alaihi and various other elders, is that the effort of Da’wah and Tabligh should be restricted to reminding the Muslims of their duties towards Allah Ta’ala.
However, Da’wah towards the disbelievers should not be neglected, but it should only be carried out by those who possess a sound understanding of Deen in order to guide them properly towards Islam, and it should be done in the manner in which the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam did.
Even though Da’wah and Tabligh predominantly makes effort on Tadhkeer i.e. reminding the Muslims of their duties towards Allah Ta’ala, it does not forbid Da’wah to non-Muslims. Therefore, one should do Da’wah and Tadhkeer, since both are necessary.
