QUESTION:
I have recently started designing websites for personal brand websites. This requires me to build websites which feature images of the person whose brand I am building. I don’t take the pictures-I just add them to the website. Am I allowed to do this?
ANSWER:
It is not permissible to take pictures of animate objects, nor is it permissible to copy pictures of animate objects and paste them on the website you intend designing. Yes, if the website will be free of pictures or anything considered as impermissible in Shariah, then there is no harm in designing the website.
The Quraan Sharif states:
وَلَا تَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الْإِثْمِ وَالْعُدْوَانِ
“And do not assist each other in acts of sin and transgression.”
ALLAH TA’ALA ALONE IN HIS INFINITE KNOWLEDGE KNOWS BEST!
