Digital Marketing

QUESTION:

Is digital marketing permissible? This could be on behalf of other companies, or the sale of courses whereby people can sign up to learn the art of digital marketing?

ANSWER:

Digital marketing is a type of marketing that uses the internet and online-based digital technologies such as computers, mobile phones, and other digital media platforms to promote products and services.

In the light of Shari’ah, digital marketing will be permissible on condition one does not utilize it to advertise for such companies that are dealing in any impermissible business such as, the selling of alcohol, pork, movies etc.

If one is selling the digital marketing courses, then one should not sell it to those people who will utilize it in an impermissible manner, as this will assisting in committing Haraam. (Re: – Jawaahirul Fiqh Vol.7 Pg.508 – 514

The Quraan Sharif states:

وَلَا تَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الْإِثْمِ وَالْعُدْوَانِ

“And do not assist in sin and transgression.” [Surah Maa’idah, Verse 2]

ALLAH TA’ALA ALONE IN HIS INFINITE KNOWLEDGE KNOWS BEST!
