QUESTION:
What is the ruling regarding using display holders in the form of fingers or hands to advertise jewellery? Is it permissible to use a mannequin (with the face removed) to display clothing for a business?
ANSWER:
We haven’t come across any prohibition which prevents businessmen from using a plastic finger or hand to advertise jewellery However, we do not approve of the use of mannequins to display clothing, as it is a sign of immodesty, even though the head may be removed. Yes, a simple wooden structure can be used to display clothing and the objective (of displaying a garment) will be fulfilled.
