QUESTION:
What is the ruling if a person faces his chest or back to the Ka’abah Sharif during Tawaaf?
ANSWER:
The Fuqaha have written that if a person makes a complete Tawaaf whilst his back or chest is facing the Ka’ba Sharif, then it will be regarded as Makrooh-e-Tahreemi and he will be required to repeat the entire Tawaaf. If he does not repeat the Tawaaf, then Damm will be Waajib upon him. However, if his chest or back faces the Ka’aba Sharif in a particular round of Tawaaf, then this will be Makrooh-e-Tahreemi but one will only have to repeat that round in which his chest or back faced the Ka’aba Sharif. However, Damm will not be Waajib if the round is not repeated in this instance. [Re: Fataawa Darul Uloom Zakariyya Vol:3 Pg:787-789]
