Free Play In Games Of Chance

QUESTION: 

Is spinning a wheel in a game of chance on a betting app permissible to participate in? Is the money won permitted to keep since there is no charge?

ANSWER:

In the queried scenario, since there is no money that you have paid for spinning the wheel, it will be permissible to take the prize as it will be a gift. However, we advise you to check thoroughly if there are no charges. If there is a charge, then it will be tantamount to gambling.  However, Taqwa demands that one should abstain from such things.

ويطلق القمار في الاصطلاح الفقهي على كل لعب يشترط فيه غالبا أن يأخذ الغالب شيئا من المغلوب وحقيقته مراهنة على غرر محض (فقه المعاملات 4/128)
