Adorning The House With Artificial Decor

QUESTION:

Is it permissible to decorate our homes with artificial plants and flowers?

ANSWER:

Fundamentally, it will be permissible to decorate one’s home with artificial plants and flowers. However, we strongly advise you to spend the same amount of money on the poor Muslims suffering throughout the entire globe such as Palestine and Sudan.

Consider the following Hadith:

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏- رضى الله عنه ‏- قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏- مَنْ نَفَّسَ عَنْ مُؤْمِنٍ كُرْبَةً مِنْ كُرَبِ اَلدُّنْيَا, نَفَّسَ اَللَّهُ عَنْهُ كُرْبَةً مِنْ كُرَبِ يَوْمِ اَلْقِيَامَةِ , وَمَنْ يَسَّرَ عَلَى مُعْسِرٍ, يَسَّرَ اَللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ فِي اَلدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ, وَمَنْ سَتَرَ مُسْلِمًا, سَتَرَهُ اَللَّهُ فِي اَلدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ, وَاَللَّهُ فِي عَوْنِ اَلْعَبْدِ مَا كَانَ اَلْعَبْدُ فِي عَوْنِ أَخِيهِ  )مُسْلِم #1465)

Sayyidina Abu Hurairah Radiallahu Anhu narrated that the Messenger of Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said:

“If anyone relieves a Muslim from one of the hardships of this worldly life, Allah will relieve him of one of the hardships of the Day of Resurrection. If anyone makes it easy for the one who is in difficulty, Allah will make it easy for him in this worldly life and in the Hereafter, and if anyone conceals the faults of a Muslim, Allah Ta’ala will conceal his faults in this world and in the Hereafter. Allah helps His slave as long as he helps his brother.”
