Hating The Kuffaar

QUESTION:

A person mentioned that whoever hates the Kuffaar is not Muslim. Is this true?

ANSWER:

Hating the Kuffaar due to their Kufr and disbelief does not constitute one to be a non-Muslim. Rather, this is encouraged as Allah Ta’ala does not like the Kuffaar. Allah Ta’ala says in the Quraan Majeed:

قُلْ أَطِيعُوا ٱللَّهَ وَٱلرَّسُولَ فَإِن تَوَلَّوْا فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ

“Say O Nabi, “Obey Allah and His Messenger. If they turn away, then truly Allah does not like the disbelievers.”
(SurahAl-e-Imraan; Verse 32)
