QUESTION:
Is it permissible to hold in wind during Salaah, or do you have to break your Salaah if you need to pass wind?
ANSWER:
If during Salaah, there is a strong urge to pass wind, then one should break his Salaah if he does not fear that the time of Salaah will expire. To complete one’s Salaah while suppressing the desire to pass wind is Makrooh, irrespective of whether the urge was found before Salaah or after commencing Salaah. It is better to discard the Jamaat Salaah which is Sunnah, than to perform Salaah with abhorrence (due to the urge of passing wind). [Kitaab-un-Nawaazil Vol:4 Pg:120-121]
