QUESTION:
A person employed by a company wants to pay the staff extra from the business money. Does he need to ask permission from the owner of the company before doing so?
ANSWER:
If he is serving as the manager of the company and is authorised by the owner to increase the salaries of the staff at his discretion, then he will not require the consent of the owner as he has been granted general authority to act according to his discretion. However, if he hasn’t been afforded general authority to transact, and only possesses limited authority in managing the business, then he will only be permitted to transact within his limits. In conclusion, if one is not authorized to increase the salaries without the consent of the owner, then he will not be permitted to do so.
