Q1. Am I allowed to install a doorbell at my gate with a camera and the image inside my home to see who is at the gate? Would it fall under the category of photography?
A1. 1. It falls in the category of photography which is Haraam.
Q2. What is the ruling of a standard doorbell (i.e. the sound is heard in the house when pressed outside)? I have heard that this falls under the category of music and keeps the angels away.
A2. If the bell sound is free of music then it is fine. If it has a musical tone then it is Haraam.
