Question:-
Here in the USA there is a masjid where both men and women participate in the Janaazah Salaah by standing in the same line. Also, non Muslim friends and family of the deceased stand in between the Sufoof. When the Imaam was asked as to why this happens, he said that these non Muslim men and women are family and friends of the deceased, and if you ask them to stand back and let the men pray, they retaliate. Should one participate in the Janaazah Salaah in such an instance or not? Please let me know!
Answer:-
In the queried scenario, you should refrain from attending the Janaazah Salaah. Firstly, it is totally incorrect and unacceptable for both men and women to be standing together in the same line (Saff). Secondly, the Kuffar are involved in the greatest act of disobedience which is Kufr. They enjoy the unlimited bounties of Allah Ta’ala, yet they ascribe partners unto Him, hence they are constantly in His displeasure. Through their participation in the Janaazah Salaah, they obstruct the mercy of Allah Ta’ala from descending upon the deceased which he is in need of. Therefore, in conclusion, you should refrain from participating in the Janaazah Salaah until they revert to the correct method of forming the Sufoof.
However, the above-mentioned aspects should be pointed out to the Imaam Saheb and if he is a true Aalim of Deen then he will rectify and correct the matter immediately. We cannot disobey Allah Ta’ala and His Rasul Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam (by ignoring the method prescribed by them) in forming the Sufoof. We do understand that there are relatives and friends of the deceased that are attending the Janaazah Salaah but they cannot be accommodated at the price of compromising on the teachings of Deen. May Allah Ta’ala reward you for your concern to practice upon the Shariah correctly and may He always guide you to righteousness.
