Question:-
A family member visited India. He brought back a magnet for me as Hadya, and two more to give another family member and a friend. The magnet has a pic of the Taj Mahal, Qutub Minar, red fort, gate of India, the Hawa mahal and the Masouleum of Akbar. According to Wikipedia, the gate of India was built to commemorate George V a British politician whilst the ‘Hawa Mahal’ was built to accommodate women of government officials so they could look at everyday life and festivals from the comfort of the palace. The palace also has non Muslim architecture. My question is, what do I do with this magnet, keep it, destroy it or try and paint out the gate of India and Hawa mahal etc , as I wouldn’t want to put something up in my house which might have un-Islamic connotations.
Answer:-
It is best not to keep such magnets in our home. The Quraan categorically prohibits us in Surah Hood from inclining towards the Kuffar, thus we advise that you dispose of the magnet.
