Making a dual intention when reciting Quraan Sharif

Question:-

Can a person make two intentions when reading a Para? For example, a person is reading his own Khatm and at the same time he is participating in a group Khatm. Is it permissible to read the Para (once only) but with the intention of completing his own Khatm and participating in the group Khatm?

Answer:-

Many of the senior Muftis such as Mufti Rashid Ludhyanwi Saheb Rahimahullah, Mufti Kifaayatullah Saheb Rahimahullah and others have regarded group Khatms whereby people are gathered and Paras distributed as an innovation. Our view concurs with their view as well. The group Khatms on social media will follow the same ruling. We therefore advise that one completes his daily recitation and passes over the rewards to the deceased without participating in any group Khatm.
