QUESTION:
I’ve read the ruling and advice regarding eating with a Topi on. I assume the same rule applies to females wearing a scarf/ burkha etc.
What I would like to know on the topic of wearing a Topi is what the correct manner of wearing the Topi is? It’s become a norm for men to wear the Topi in the middle of the head, in such a way that the hair at the front is visible. Even ladies wearing a scarf, leave the front of the hair exposed. The Hadith quoted for eating with a Topi, states “middle of the head”. How can this be reconciled?
ANSWER:
It is best that females wear their scarves in the home at all times, hence it is best that their heads are covered when partaking of meals, just as males should cover their heads when eating.
The Topi should be spread out over the head to the extent that the front hair is covered and it should hold onto the head. It shouldn’t just be placed on the head. This has been the way of the righteous and pious, which is best and closest to the Sunnah. Females should ensure that their hair is properly covered to the extent that not a single strand of hair is exposed particularly when venturing outdoors for some need. In conclusion, both males and females should be encouraged to cover their heads in a way that the hair is not exposed at the front.
Wearing the Topi in the middle of the head and exposing the hair in the front has become the norm and fashion of the times. This practice has no basis in Shariah and should be discarded.
ٹوپی اوڑھنے کا سنت طریقہ کیا ہے؟
کیا فرماتے ہیں علماء دین ومفتیان شرع متین مسئلہ ذیل کے بارے میں کہ ٹوپی سر پر کس طرح اوڑھنی چاہئے ،سامنے کے بال چھپا کر اوڑھنا چاہئے یا سامنے کے بال نکال کر اوڑھنا چاہئے ؟ دونوں میں کس طرح اوڑھنا اچھا ہے؟
الجواب وبالله التوفيق: صلحاء کا طریقہ یہ رہا ہے کہ ان کی ٹوپی کے سامنے کے بال ڈھکے رہتے ہیں، اور لباس میں صلحاء کا طریقہ ہی اختیار کرنا چاہئے ، لہذا سامنے کے بال ڈھا تک کر ٹوپی پہنامسنون اور زیادہ بہتر ہے۔
